at a glance | this site is much fun, often used even by cariocas who want to stay in the city but want to feel on vacation for a couple of days - within rio de janeiro state, there are six main campsites situated on the outskirts of rio, including serrinha, arraial do cabo, cabo frio, muri, and paraty, all great travel destinations at short distances from the capital of the state. arraial do cabo is a little over 40 miles east of rio, blessed with gorgeous scenery and beaches this small town can be reached via a three-hour bus ride - the campsite at serrinha on the other hand is closer to rio, and does have views and wildlife as well. each site is able to accommodate tents and motor homes, with prices per night varying accordingly - some of the camping sites have a variety of facilities, such as bathrooms, showers, and lockers - january and february tend to be the busiest times, so booking in advance is recommended. | camping | |||
