a more modest structure, the palace hosts some of the institutions cultural events, as well as the rodolfo garcia library.

the abl is not only an important location for cultural events, but also holds a vast collection of literature and documents across its two libraries, which includes 90,000 volumes of books, textual documents, photographs, personal archives of academic and institutional documents, amongst many more artifacts.

the library is home to several collections - the Coleção Afrânio Peixoto,  the Coleção Austregésilo de Athayde, the Coleção Antônio de Morais Silva, and the Série Essencial offering information on each of the chairmen of the institution and its principal supporters.
