caixa cultural rio is a particularly important cultural center located in the center of metropolitan rio de janeiro - in fact, the caixa cultural rio has different locations, but its first space opened on avenida República do chile.

established in 1987, the center contains the nelson rodrigues theater (teatro nelson rodrigues), considered one of brazil's finest,  as well as the grand gallery on the 3rd floor and an alternative arts and education space located on the 2nd floor.

the building is an architectural landmark from the 70s, is shaped like a pyramid and is surrounded by gardens, walkways and pools.
