at a glance

kuru-mi thought to bring the boy and the unhatched egg back to paquetá, where he kept a green heron on praia imbuca. though of the same genus as the white heron, the green heron is small and less active.

he deposited the egg in his heron's nest, and in time, the chick hatched. she resembled her adoptive heron mother in every way, save for her gargantuan size.

the fledgling spent her life with kuru-mi's kept heron, and grew to be just like her, flying very little, scratching around on the beach and eating food from the indian's hand. arrow-back     arrow-forward
