her song and her tears never reached the ears of tamoios, but they carved a hole in the stone walls of the cave and one day fell on the eyes of the hunter while he slept. bewildered, he ran to his canoe and saw her with new eyes as he paddled away in fear.  

upon his return the next day, he heard her voice ring through the cave and instantly fell in love. it is said that poranga's tears are still in the water of lovers cave and it is enough for a couple to drink of them together to make their union permanent.
