the museu benjamin constant, located on rua monte alegre in the santa teresa neighborhood of rio de janeiro, was benjamin constant botelho de magalhăe's residence for the last two years of his life (1889-1891).
after benjiamin's death, his family remained living in the mansion for a long time. in 1982 the building was turned into a museum in honor of the influential brazilian politician. with the goal to offer its visitors a look into benjamin constant's daily life.
