museu casa do pontal, located adjacent to an ecological reserve in recreio dos bandeirantes, is the largest and most significant folk art museum in brazil.

the building, its gardens, and all original collections were designed and curated in 1974 by frenchman jacques van de beuque who, for 40 years, had traveled the country and collected art from every part of society. the museum today counts 40 exhibitions, with 8,000 works by 200 popular artists from every state of brazil.
