the forte de copacabana is a coastal defense fort protecting both the beach of copacabana and the entrance to the harbor of rio de janeiro. the fort was completed in 1914, and was most famously the scene of a rebellion in 1922 known as the revolt of the 18, among other historic events.

the museum do forte de copacabana's goal is to preserve the history of the brazilian army, also by using the fort itself as a cultural space that provides knowledge and culture to its visitors. several exhibits focus on different time periods and events of the brazilian army.
