the highlights of the collection include the book of records of slaves (1872), the first printed edition of the royal charter, a record of the first external loan of 1824, reports of economic activities from the house of the general administration of diamonds, replicas from the collection of the coronation with gold pieces (minted in 1822), a gold bar melted at a foundry in sabara in 1814, as well as photos of all who occupied positions at the ministry of finance.

the museum houses a library containing publications on finance and economics as well as other topics and runs education programs for the community.
