a project of tv globo network foundation, fundação roberto marinho, museum of tomorrow (museu do amanhã) opened in 2014 in anticipation of the many high profile events being hosted in rio such as the 2014 world cup and the 2016 summer olympics.

situated at pier mauá, next to rio's main cruise ship terminal, the museum was conceived as part of the porto maravilha redevelopment plan to regenerate the city's docklands.

the museum is different to other museums of science and technology, in that it offers visitors an experience whereby they can glimpse different variations of the future and interact with contrasting possibilities, imagining how they will live and how the planet will grow over the next fifty years.
