the beach is ideal for families, for bathing, picnics and barbeques and the high salt content of the water results in quick tanning - access is via the road to figueira (rj-102).

located close to the morro do pontal do atalaia (watchtower hill), and 4km from arraial do cabo, praia brava is just 200 meters long and features fine sand and salt marsh vegetation, typical of the region.    

the water is blue-green, clear and cold, and with strong waves the beach is considered one of the most dangerous in the area.   

however, whilst praia brava is not suitable for swimming, it is popular amongst surfers and body boarders.
