blue coast beach is always rustling with activity - during the day bicyclists cycle down the bike lane while other people exercise in the open air gym next to the beach.

tourists walk along the pier taking in the sights while kids enjoy playing in the various playgrounds in the area.

at the end of the beach is the praça da baleia a square with a 20 meter long bronze statue of the jubarte whale  in the center, and a popular market for arts and crafts, making this so one of the most visited sites of rio das ostras.

lagoa iriri (pond iriri) is a particularly popular spot for those who wish to avoid strong waves, or families with small kids.
