the Sistema Nacional de Unidade de conservação - SNUc is the set of official rules and regulations that allow the three different levels of government in Brazil (federal, state and municipal) to work with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the establishment of conservation units (CU).

Started in the early 1970s the original 'Plan of Conservation System of Brazil,'  developed methods for the conservation of natural resources. Brazil being a large and diverse country it was important that all levels of government be represented and that all would work in the best interests of the nation as a whole.

the ultimate goal of SNUc is conserving biodiversity and ecosystems, generating employment, new income,  development and to improving the quality of life for all peoples of Brazil.
