the lagoa rodrigo de freitas offers an abundance of sporting facilities and recreational activities - visitors can rent pedalboats, cycle, skate or simply sit on the banks and along the piers or one of the gastronomic establishments.

the surrounding banks boast a 7.5 kilometer long bicycle path encircling the lagoon, which is perfect for morning jogs or late afternoon strolls. in addition, the placid waters of the lagoon are ideal for rowing and other nautical sports.

the lagoon also features two islands, piraquê, to the north, home of the naval club sports department, and caiçaras to the south, which houses the clube dos caiçaras.
