at a glance

countless examples of reptiles can be found in the forest, including coral snakes, venomous pit vipers, geckos, iguanas, and the jararaca.

The sheer number of invertebrates that make this Park their home is staggering, as is the remarkable diversity of the vegetation within the park.

Some 1600 species of plants are within tijuca's boundaries, with close to 450 of these being on the endangered list.

Endemic plants and trees such as the camboatá, yellow ipe, murici, cedar, samambaiaçu, orchids and bromeliads share the Park with reforested species such as cordyline, breadfruit, jackfruit, bamboo, and the jabuticabeira.arrow-back     arrow-forward
