barra da tijuca, the relatively new urban hub of the zona oeste (west zone), is home to one of the most important beaches in rio de janeiro - praia da barra. with nearly 18 km of extension, it is also the biggest beach in rio de janeiro. we differentiate three sections of barra beach: barra beach, praia do pepę, and reserva ecológica, since they are the most significant segments of the beach.
