rio de janeiro is set to host the 2016 summer olympics from august 5th to the 21st. the infrastructure and construction works involved are huge, and it is estimated there will be more than 100,000 people directly involved in organizing the games, 70,000 of which will be volunteers.

rio de janeiro is expected to welcome millions of spectators and fans from all over the globe, not to mention approximately  11,000 athletes from over 200 nations. the olympic park is located next to the water's edge in the barra area of the city, on the former brazilian grand prix track in a striking triangular layout spanning 300 acres.
