the museu de arte do rio (art museum of rio), or mar, which opened in early 2013 ahead of the 2014 world cup and the 2016 summer olympics, is located at praça mauá in rio de janeiro's docklands.

it includes an early-twentieth century palace, palacete dom joão vi, where the art museum is located, and a former police building and the old central bus station of rio, where the art school, escola do olhar, is located.
