located in rio de janeiro's northern neighborhood, vila isabel, unidos de vila isabel samba school has its roots entwined with a football team of the same area.

originally represented in red and white, members of a football team in the area, changed their colors to blue and white, and converted themselves into a carnival attraction. the idea is to parade through the neighborhood with the biggest possible celebration of passion, spontaneity and love.

although the symbol of the school is a crown, vila isabel has only obtained carnival glory on three occasions, most recently in 2013.
