the small and mostly unknown mirante praça amazônia is located on ilha do governador, a large island located in the guanabara bay. of great historical importance, the island is connected to the rest of the city via a bridge and ferry services.

the mirante praça amazônia sits, above praia da bica, the main beach there. it is a small square with wonderful views of guanabara bay, the bridge rio - niterói, and praia da bica itself.  the view to the bay and to rio includes unique angles of the statue of christ the redeemer.
