visitors often take advantage of the serene setting, to wind down from the excitement of the rest of the city, and enjoy a nice walk round the lagoon or listen to some live music by the waterside.

parque catacumba is made up of 30 hectares of thick vegetation, with some great views of the region and the lagoa, morro dois irmãos, and even of pedra da gávea. opened to the public for over 40 years, this park is also home to a permanent open-air gallery exhibiting a variety of sculptures, a local rock-climbing school, and many benches and seating in idyllic surrounds.
