quinta da boa vista is one of the most famous of the many parks found in rio de janeiro, and definitely one of the most fun for a family picnic.

located in the north of the city, it is known for accommodating the former residence of the portuguese royal family and later  that of the brazilian emperor - paço de são cristóvão, from 1808 until the founding of the republic in 1889.
