in total, almost 250,000 visitors attend, all looking for a good time and some authentic northeastern music and food. the fair dates back to 1945, when brazil's north-eastern communities traveled to rio de janeiro in search of work - here they set up an impromptu gathering to cook their favorite cuisines and reminisce about the land they left behind.
