lapa is the place where most people who want to listen to some traditional samba music will visit when they come to rio. the back streets are lined with samba halls as well as the famous street parties on friday and saturday nights. bar semente or just semente as it is known to its loyal clientele can be found just past the lapa's arches and is one of lapa's best live music venues. open practically every night of the week this well loved venue is full of energy and life and some of the biggest names in brazilian music can be found playing here. there are few tables inside but this just means more room for dancing in this very traditional venue.
