at a glance

cervantes restaurant is known for one thing in particular: great sandwiches - queues can often be seen stretching far and wide on the street outside into the small hours as famished clubbers wait to fill their stomachs after a night's dancing.

the restaurant has evolved quite a bit since opening way back in 1955, when it was only a simple grocery store casually selling sandwiches on the side - in 1965 two spaniards who were impressed by the quality of the sarnies, bought the establishment and quickly went about transforming the joint into a restaurant.

easily reachable from all over rio, cervantes attracts a steady stream of cariocas and visitors who walk the short distance from copacabana beach - there is a main restaurant and side bar, which is where most hunrgy guests wait in line, so everyone is welcome to go inside while enjoying a sit down meal or to simply grab a quick bite from the bar. arrow-back      arrow-forward
