at a glance

as a result many of the bloco's entourage wear a bright veil and operate a giant puppet of the mischievous nun during the procession, the first of which takes place at the beginning of carnival, followed by a second on carnival tuesday.

the giant 'runaway nun' is paraded at the front of the march up and down the undulating, cobbled streets of santa teresa - the final lap sees the party-goers make their way back to the convent so that the nun is able to jump back over the wall before her fellow worshippers notice her absence.  arrow-back     arrow-forward
