at a glance

carnival is a festival full of colors and dance, historically the last celebration before people enter in to the period fasting and reflection known as lent.

with this in mind one can expect the festivities to be jovial and full of excitement, it is not at all odd to expect a full on party in any bar in the city.

all revelry and debauchery aside, what makes the largest impression on visitors during carnival is the brilliant costumes.

essential to the festivities, costumes, called 'fantasias', vary widely, depending on the events they are used for.

yet, they all have the name in common, a name that does not literally translates to 'costumes' but instead is a word for fantasy - as all these costumes serve the purpose of briefly living a different life, role, or position.      arrow-back     arrow-forward
