as the ctps is free to apply for and to obtain, it is a positive addition to the terms of employment, as it ensures these rights are maintained.

however, the ctps is not granted to all foreigners who apply for one, as they need to fit into one of the following categories: seeking asylum, visitor with a temporary, working or permanent visa, somebody living near the brazilian borders and working or studying in brazil, refugees, artists or sportsmen, or professionals working for the brazilian government.

applications for a ctps need to be submitted to the appropriate regional labor authority, often a drt, which can be found in all major cities, including rio de janeiro. 

the process is relatively easy, with the application normally taking 10 days to complete - however, there are numerous documents that need to be presented during the application.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
