Riocentro is responsible for the organization of wide-scale events in the city; Rioluz is the company responsible for energy and lighting; Comlurb is the municipal cleaning company; CET-RIO is the company responsible for transport, roads and traffic management; Riofilme is an organization working on the revival of national cinema; Riourbe manages projects to do with infrastructure, architecture and urbanization; Guarda Municipal is responsible for the protection of public property; RioTur is the tourism branch of the government.

In 2011, the municipal government created Portal 1746, which is the main channel of communication between them and the city's residents, most commonly dealing with requests relating to lighting, parking, debris and repairs.

The Prefeitura also has a city archive responsible for the safekeeping of important historical and social documents, as well as producing and disseminating statistical information, maps and research on Rio.
