at a glance

today there are two main forms of ballet being presented in most theaters across brazil and the world.

classic ballet still has many similarities with the early forms of this art presented in the italian renaissance - the more recent contemporary ballet has strong influences from more current forms of dance, such as utlizing the traditional pointework style, albeit modified to accommodate new dance steps.

although today's performances tend to be available to a wider audience, given the openness of current society, ballet is still mostly attended by the wealthy and performing art enthusiasts, as the tickets to attend the performances of the most-well known academies remain expensive.   arrow-back      arrow-forward
