another innovative tool to make cultural events and institutions more accessable is the passaporte dos museus cariocas (passport of carioca museums) allows citizens and visitors of rio to access 43 important cultural establishments that scattered the city, completely free of charge - the initiative was developed as part of celebrations of rio's 450 years of existence.   

the playful 'passport' symbolizes how interaction and engagement in cultural practice is a fundamental component of genuine, inclusive and democratic citizenship - to mirror conventional travel passports, each visitation earns citizens a stamp to verify attendance and reflect the cultural experience and capital gained.

these cultural notebooks are being distributed at six of the participatory institutions, including museu nacional de belas artes (national museum of fine arts), museu da república (museum of the republic), museu imperial (imperial museum), museu de arte do rio (museum of art of rio), museu aeroespacial (space museum), and the centro cultural banco do brasil (cultural center bank of brazil).
