the games will run from august 5th to august 21st of 2016 - events included feature archery, badminton, basketball, cycling, hockey, sailing, rowing, tennis, volleyball and wrestling - since rio de janeiro hosts hillsides, lagoons, ocean and grassy parks it is the perfect location for outdoor events such as the olympics.

the pan am games were hosted in rio de janeiro in 2007 so many of the athletic facilities, to be used for the olympics, were created at this time - compared to the summer time, the month of august in rio cools down considerable and the weather is comfortable for practice athletic activities outside.
