at a glance

for both hang gliding and paragliding, depending on the location the views include pedra da gávea, the largest seaside monolith in the world, christ redeemer, the city beaches and the various islands off the shore of rio. paragliders commonly land at the end of săo conrado beach, which is called praia do pepino beach, and are able to relaxand socialize with fellow gliders after their exciting experience at one of the numerous kiosks. visitors with more time to devote to these sports, can head across the bay to parque da cidade in niterói, where paragliding and hang gliding give incredible views of the gunabara bay, and the city of rio de janeiro.

another radical  sport that is somewhat more difficult to access, but extremely rewarding and thrilling, is rappeling. it involves being attached to a zipline and jumping down a mountain backwards in a abseiling fashion - it is great way to experience the ecological wonders of the city for those who love nature, as it takes place among the mountains of rio de janeiro's dense rainforests.   arrow-back     arrow-forward
