its two and half kilometers sit between gently lapping waves and a backdrop of vegetation including interesting regional fauna and the palm trees from which the beach is named after - currents from both antarctica and brazil define the area's climate as the peninsula extends just over eight miles into the ocean.

north búzios hosts many beaches characterized by their still, warm waters such as praia azeda, tartuga and joão fernandes, while the beaches situated on the south side are exposed to the slightly colder waters of the open ocean, as are, praia geribá and praia de tucuns. 

due to búzios' curious geography some bays even resemble small islands, like forno and ferradura - with the abundance of beaches, nature and local festivals, there really is no bad time to arrive in búzios, it just depends on what type of vacation travelers are looking for.
