situated near dois rios cove, cachadaço beach is one of the smallest beaches on the island, with around 50 feet of total length - it is also considered one of the most beautiful and deserted,  which is to say, completely untouched by humans - the beach is ringed on both sides by large rock formations, adding to its rugged charm. 

moving beyond the almost endless list of beaches, lagoons, and hiking trails that bless ilha grande, the most important architectural marker of the island is the são sebastião church (igreja são sebastião), located in the central plaza of vila abraão - bright white and easy to see when arriving to the island.

nearly 150 years old - and named for the patron saint of the island - the church was built in advance of the arrival of brazilian emperor dom pedro ii - to this day the church continues to hold mass on saturdays and sundays.
