of course prices are lower in the off-season, but during the highest of peaks like new years, carnival and easter there are 4 or 5 night packages - the place is run by locals and travelers so it is not hard to just stay and chat at the bar or relax on the terrace.
given the knowledge the staff has of the area one might feel compelled to go and explore some of the spots around the island, plus the beach is just a few blocks away and the hostel can point a finger in the direction of tours and activities in this regard.
