the centro cultural solar de botafogo was eventually opened on january 31, 2007, and inaugurated by gilberto gawronski and leonardo franco's 'field tests', which won the theatre well deserved acclaim from the outset.

the redevelopment of the building was done by some of the top architects in brazil, who made great efforts to preserve the original façade and its structure, whilst transforming the interior into a permanent exhibition of interior architecture.

due to this redevelopment of the original structure, the solar de botafogo is now one of the oldest theatres in rio.
