Another innovative tool to make cultural events and institutions more accessable is the Passaporte dos Museus Cariocas (Passport of Carioca Museums) allows citizens and visitors of Rio to access 43 important cultural establishments that pepper the city, completely free of charge. The initiative was developed as part of celebrations of Rio's 450 years of existence.

The playful 'passport' symbolizes how interaction and engagement in cultural practice is a fundamental component of genuine, inclusive and democratic citizenship. To mirror conventional travel passports, each visitation earns citizens a stamp to verify attendance and reflect the cultural experience and capital gained.
