overall area of the project. it is reported that archer oversaw the
planting of over 61,000 seedlings 12 years after his
appointment, although modern estimates put that figure at 72,000.
in a report, archer emphasized the
environmental and scientific importance of the
rainforest, and urged the government to create a number of institutes
in order to protect the endangered species of wildlife and plants.
