bradesco segros have sponsored the tree since its maiden year, with support from the city administration of rio de janeiro. the much-anticipated lighting of the tree event kicks off the festive season - crowds gather on the ipanema/copacabana waterfront as fireworks light up the sky.  

the entertainment program includes theatrical acts, such as a special performance of the wizard of oz starring malu rodrigues, as dorothy, and actor/presenter, luiz carlos miele, as the wizard of oz, and musical performances by the likes of the bradesco foundation choir and barra mansa symphony orchestra.
