the museum houses a large library with approximately 57,000 titles relevant to brazil's history, with subjects ranging from history, numismatics, heraldry, philately, museology, to genealogy and fashion, some titles being rare editions dating back as far as the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries - furthermore the museum has a reference centre for luso-brazilian relations, founded in 1998.
