the first floor houses permanent exhibitions and contains an open area which allows the visitor to take in the gorgeous views of guanabara bay.

the museum has become a new architectural icon in the city, alongside the christ redeemer, the arcos da lapa and the sambadrome. it is open to the public daily from 10am-6pm, except sundays.
