the vastness of the lakes region can be viewed from the summit - that is, if the dense fog that is often present and which lends the area an eerie atmosphere is absent.

marine enthusiasts can also check out the oceanographic museum where collections of flora and fauna from the region are on display amongst oceanographic equipment by the institute of marine studies almirante paulo moreira, including an orca skeleton collected from a beached specimen found on the island of cabo frio.  

for the summer, the museum is also maintaining an observation aquarium showcasing live specimens native to the region.
