at praia do farol, visitors can see the ruins of the lighthouse (1833) which give the beach its name, the ponta do focinho, the new lighthouse (1861), and the gruta azul (blue grotto), which is located in the western part of the island.

the current lighthouse of arraial de cabo is on an island 5 kilometers long with peaks reaching up to 390 meters - a perfect spot for hiking with views of the pristine beach landscape.  

ruins of the old abandoned lighthouse with the lighthouse keeper's house can be reached on the island by working through the closed trail up to the peak, the trail is fairly easy but a guide is always recommended.
