prainha gained world-wide notoriety in 2012, when a school of dolphins chasing sardines suddenly got stranded on the sand, but were all successfully rescued and put back into the ocean by a group of lifeguards and beachgoers - and it was all captured on video.

at the end of the beach a trail leads another tiny beach, praia graçainha, which is just 15 meters long and is covered at high tide.             

the saco do cherne also nearby is an ideal spot for fishing and diving.
