finally, a favorite spots for all tour operators on the island, lagoa azul, literally 'blue lagoon', is actually not a lagoon at all, or at least not during high tide - when the tide goes out, however, this lagoon comes to light between the extreme northern tip of the island and nearby macacos island. 

many one-day tours stop here, as it is possible to snorkel among a variety of fish, spotting corals and marine life between clear rocks and underneath a beautiful vegetation.

with its pristine blue waters and abundant marine life, the lagoon is a favored location for snorkelers and scuba divers - in the summer and on week-ends there is often a boat-restaurant that anchors here to sell drinks and fresh seafood to visitors.
