this beach was named after the argentinean ship, camboinhas, that stranded in these waters in 1958.  the wreck of the ship can still be seen in when the tide is low. camboinhas beach has an exclusive aura to it, as it mostly frequented by the upscale residents of the neighborhood and their friends.

the lack of public transportation within the neighborhood, and the somewhat complicated access to the side of the beach near the praia do sossego, keep this beach a favorite among local celebrities and anyone seeking safety and privacy.
