there are no public bathrooms on this beach, and not all sections of the beach are patrolled by lifeguards.          

the nearby lagoa de itaipú is also quite beautiful and worth visiting.  calm waters and shallow depths make the lagoon a favorite among many families with small children.  access to the lagoon is easiest via the canal at the border with praia de itaipú.

lagoa de itaipú is part of the serra da tiririca, a park declared a world's biosphere reserve by unesco (united nations educational, scientific, and cultural organization) in 1992.
