today, other than hikers and a few residents, this beach is used mostly by people reaching it via water on small boats.  kayakers reach this beach often from the adjacent  camboinhas beach and piratininga beach, as well as snorkelers and some scuba divers 

hiring a local guide is always recommended to anyone not familiar with the area and not fluent in portuguese.
