Despite being sandwiched between the metropolitan and highly populated districts of Copacabana, Botafogo, Urca, and Leme, Carioca Park enjoys a wide variety of rare orchids, endangered plants and huge leafy trees -all of which create a relaxed and calming atmosphere for visitors to enjoy a tranquil morning, afternoon or evening.

A cobblestone drive way leads up to the park, some 125 meters above sea level, which provides a grand entrance to the lush, green space. From the driveway great views of Guanabara Bay and the edge of Rio de Janeiro's southern zone can be enjoyed.

The area can be accessed via a number of entry points - from Tuesday to Sunday, 9:30 to 16:30, via Forte Duque de Caxias (Leme Fort) -admission is by Praça Almirante Júlio de Noronha, admission costs R$4, except on Tuesday, when entry is free - Visitors can also gain access from Rua Guimarães Natal in Copacabana for free from Tuesday to Sunday, 08:00 to 17:00.
